Dr. Vandana Shiva is a world-renowned environmental thinker, activist, physicist, philosopher of science, writer and science policy advocate. In 1993 she was the recipient of the Right Livelihood Award, commonly known as the "Alternative Nobel Prize", and in 2010 Forbes Magazine identified Dr. Shiva as one of the Seven Most Powerful Women on the Globe.
ISKCON was officially recognized and registered in the Soviet Union on May 20, 1988, ending years of persecution of the Hare Krishna devotees by the Communist regime. On May 17, 2018, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his congratulatory message for the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of ISKCON in Russia.
The temple of ISKCON New Mayapur is situated near the Loire Valley in Central France. Until now, dialogues in Washington D.C. have been held in neutral, non-religious spots such as retreat centers and community halls. But with such deep friendships and trust built up over the years, the dialogue was held last year at a Catholic monastery, and this year – for the very first time – at an ISKCON temple.
